EU declaration of conformity

The EU Declaration of Conformity is a document, in which the manufacturer declares that the product conforms to the requirements.

It is a document with a specified form, and its content is defined in Article 15 of the Gas Appliances Regulation and in Annex V. The EU declaration of conformity is part of the procedure for assessing the conformity of a gas appliance.

The manufacturer or its authorised representative must prepare and sign the EU declaration of conformity before the gas appliance is placed on the market. The EU declaration of conformity is prepared and signed as part of the conformity assessment procedure. The EU declaration of conformity is the document which states that the gas appliance meets all the essential requirements of the applicable legislation. By preparing and signing the EU declaration of conformity, the manufacturer assumes responsibility for the conformity of the product.

Like the technical documentation, the EU declaration of conformity must be kept for 10 years from the date on which the gas appliance was placed on the market. If the appliance has been imported from outside the EU, the importer is responsible for keeping the EU declaration of conformity.

If several EU regulations that require an EU declaration of conformity apply to the gas appliance, a single EU declaration of conformity can be drawn up for all regulations. The EU declaration of conformity can also be a document that consists of all the individual manufacturer’s declarations of conformity that apply to the appliance.

The EU declaration of conformity must be made available to the market surveillance authorities on request. The EU declaration of conformity for a gas appliance need not be provided with the appliance.

The EU declaration of conformity of a gas appliance placed on the Finnish market must be in Finnish and Swedish.
