Terms of use of the I Know My Products logo granted in the I Know My Products learning environment
I Know My Products system and I Know My Products logo
Businesses that have acceptably passed tests in their product area and the requirements set for signing up have the right to use the I Know My Products logo. Businesses can use the logo on their websites, for example.
Each business must accept the following terms of use of the logo before being able to complete any tests in the system. The terms of use of the logo are also available on the tukes.fi website.
Using the I Know My Products logo
The logo must not give the impression that a business or its products have an official approval.
The logo is business ID-specific. If a distributor or trader in a chain of businesses can independently have an impact on their shop’s product range, the tests must be completed for each shop. Otherwise, the person(s) responsible for the product range of the chain of businesses can complete the tests for the entire chain.
A business that has received the I Know My Products certification can use the logo in various ways in the business’s marketing, communication and sales.
The layout of the I Know My Products logo cannot be changed (colours, shapes or dimensions).
Businesses that have received the I Know My Products certification are published on the tukes.fi website, listing the product areas in which each business has completed their tests and for how long the certification granted for each business remains valid.
I Know My Products is a voluntary system for businesses that manufacture, import and distribute products. In the system, businesses evaluate their knowledge of the legislation related to products in their own product range and the existence of operating practices and methods that are related to product safety and have been identified to be useful.
Competence is evaluated by means of electronic tests completed in the system. The system automatically checks correct responses and provides feedback for businesses on their results.
Tukes owns the registered visual I Know My Products trademark and grants the right to use the logo based on acceptably passed tests. The logo can only be used in accordance with the terms of use of the logo.
The I Know My Products logo cannot be affixed to a product, and it cannot be used in product marketing. The I Know My Products logo is only intended for marketing the activities of businesses.
The logo cannot be affixed to any product.
The I Know My Products logo only concerns the competence of businesses. The logo cannot be used in conjunction with product marketing or sales. (Further instructions for using the I Know My Products logo in the marketing activities of businesses are available in the attached marketing package, which is given to businesses in conjunction with the logo.)
The logo must be used together with the certification. The certification specifies what tests the business in question has completed.
The system automatically indicates when the logo is about to expire.
The I Know My Products certification is valid for three (3) years at a time after its granting date.
The I Know My Products logo cannot be transferred to third parties.
Obligations of businesses
Each business must complete the system’s tests independently.
No test can be assigned to be completed by an external consultant.
However, a single business’s specialists in different areas of responsibility can complete tests in their respective product areas.
The person completing each test must be in an employment relationship with the business.
If the system’s tests have not been re-completed by the deadline, the logo and any other indications related to the system must be removed from the business’s marketing material.
Tukes monitors the appropriate use of the logo and the expiration of deadlines.
A business that has the right to use the I Know My Products logo is obligated to report any non-compliance with the law observed in its products or any deficient quality control measures in the business.
The right to use the logo may be revoked if the reporting obligation is neglected.
Tukes’ rights
Tukes may revoke the right to use the logo if it is used in an incorrect or misleading way.
Tukes may revoke the right to use the logo if the activities of a business indicate that they do not meet the purpose of the I Know My Products system or if the business repeatedly receives notifications from the authorities indicating that its activities are non-compliant with the law.
Tukes may reject a business’s right to use the logo if the business does not fulfil its obligations related to the use of the logo. As a result, Tukes will remove any information on the business from the tukes.fi website and, if necessary, issue a separate notification.
The use of the I Know My Products logo is monitored by means of spot checks and based on feedback received. Tukes has the right to request businesses to prove that they meet the prerequisites set for granting the logo.
Furthermore, Tukes has the right to request businesses to provide documents within a specific time to prove that their activities are in compliance with the responses they have given in the “General quality control” section.
Tukes reserves the right to change the terms of use of the I Know My Products logo as it deems necessary. Businesses that have received the logo must be notified of any changes in the terms of use well beforehand.
